Ken McKinney

Herbert Carter “Ken” McKinney, 74, of Carnesville, passed away Sunday evening, April 17, 2016, at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens, GA.

Born April 25, 1941, in Appalachia, VA, he was the son of the late Herbert C. and Mary Emily McKinney Sr. He was a long time resident of Lawrenceville and had retired from General Motors.   He was a Mason and served as a Past Master, and was a past president of the Carnesville Lions Club.  He attended the Cross Roads Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Kenady McKinney; three sons, Jeff McKinney, Houston, TX, Tim McKinney, Cumming, GA, and Mark McKinney, Lyman, SC. Six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; one sister, Martha Jane Dalton, Long Beach, California.

Services will be Thursday afternoon at 2pm at the B D Ginn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Phillip Blinson and Rev. Terry Deland.  Interment will be in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery, Carnesville, GA.

The body is at the funeral home. The family is at the home. They will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.  Condolences may be left for the family at ginnfuneralhome.com.

    I remember Carter, Jr. Coming to visit his parents when I was a young girl. We lived across the street from Carter and Maty Emily. He was always a happy and friendly man. Please accept my sympathies. I will be praying for your family.
