Dorothy Isabelle “Dot” Little Harris, 86, of the Red Hill Community, passed away Tuesday evening, at the St Mary’s Hospice House in Athens, Georgia.
Born July 8, 1930, in Carnesville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Leland and Margaret Ellen Hume Little. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Lara Pilkinton, and great-granddaughters Montana and Amythest. She was a homemaker and had been a Girl Scout Leader. She worked as a telephone operator with Georgia Power, and was a member of the Ambassadors of Retired Georgia Power Employees. An accomplished artist, she attended the High Museum of Art, and was a member of the Tugalo Arts Guild, Dogwood Chapter of the Art Guild, and the Franklin County Historical Society. When Dot and Bob moved back to Carnesville, they operated Dot’s Little Shop and gave art lessons. She was a member of the Carnesville Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Harris; three daughters and son-in-law, Renee Harris, Eastonollee, Melissa and Joe Greene, Red Hill, and Martha Harris, Carnesville, GA; four grandchildren, Brian & Pam, Patrick & Tamara, Emily & Kayla, Andrew & Brooke; seven great-grandchildren, Lesly, Whitney, Brain, Jr, Warren, Tristan, Emma Lynn and Kate Isabelle; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Hume and Libby Little, Piedmont, SC, and William Shannon and Kaye Little, Pensacola, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 3pm at B D Ginn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Monte Nelson. Burial will be in the Allens United Methodist Cemetery.
The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family is at the home of Joe and Melissa Greene. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until 3 pm Saturday afternoon at the funeral home prior to the funeral hour.
