James “Fox” LeCroy
James A. “Fox” LeCroy, 80, of Carnesville, GA, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 29, 2017, at his residence.
Born April 27, 1937, in Carnesville, he was the son of the late Loyd T. and Ella Lee Ginn LeCroy. He was the brother of the late Mildred LeCroy Davis. He was a 1955 Graduate of Franklin County High School, where he played basketball and baseball. He held the basketball scoring record for 30 years. He played basketball and baseball for Piedmont College. He was a poultry farmer for 21 years. He served as Franklin County Clerk of Court for 26 years and then as Commissioner of Franklin County for 4 years. He was a proud member of the National Guard for 32 years. He was a longtime member of the Carnesville Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 45 years.
Survivors include his wife Maggie Jean Jordan LeCroy; one son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Chris and Sarah LeCroy, Dewy Rose; one daughter, Tina Jordan LeCroy, Carnesville; two brothers, Harold “Chunk” LeCroy, Carnesville and Joe Dan LeCroy, Martin; one sister, Helen LeCroy Varner, Bold Spring; six grandchildren, Whitney, Nealie, Molly, Jon, Raleigh, Austin, and Jake; nine great-grandchildren, Smith, Justin, Paul Carter, Kenzleigh, Parker, Gavin, Kamden, Paisley, and Sarah Catherine.
Services will be Tuesday at 2pm at the B D Ginn Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Alan Cole, and Rev. Danny Newbern. Entombment with military honors will be at the Franklin Memorial Gardens.
