Since we have lived in Oklahoma since 1990, we have not been able to be as much a part of Don and Jaren’s daft by day life as the rest of the family. Having said that, regardless..when we were able to visit and be a part of family get togethers, Don always made a point of asking about our kids, Jamie and Mandy and their families, and he was always the same..humble spirited and kind hearted, it was obvious Don not only talked the talk
but walked the walk. I knew if my sister fell in love with this man and married him..he had to be the best! If he had not been..this sister would have voiced her concern. Right, Kay? I regret that we will not be at the funeral due to lack of flights this weekend (Dawgs vs Bama) and not enough time to drive and be there in time..but we will certainly be there with our thoughts and prayers. Don looked and felt great on the 28th. Little did we know this would be our last Christmas without him. So blessed that we were there! certainly made a positive difference in many peoples lives..including ours! Thank you and we will see you again!

As a kid my hero was “The Bandit,” Burt Reynolds until I met my Uncle Don. He was so much cooler than Burt Reynolds, even though Uncle Don drove a lawn mower instead of a Firebird. THAT is how cool he was. In fact, at one point I thought he was Burt Reynolds. I remember wanting to spend the night with Don and Karen almost every time we came into town from Augusta so I could play with Kyle. Uncle Don was always so nice to me, would walk me around the yard, and let me and Kyle stay up a little late. Aunt Karen was and is one of the kindest and sweetest person I’ve ever met. Uncle Don will be missed and I can’t wait to see him again. While we mourn our loss, let’s not forget those who are here grieving. Allan Methodist has always been a wonderful family church and I am so grateful for that, especially today. See you soon Uncle Don. #Legend #Redeemed

Don was so much more than a brother-in-law. I loved this man for so many reasons! First, he loved the Lord and not only talked the talk, but walked the walk. Also, he made my baby sister live again with happiness and purpose after she lost Sam. He loved Karen and was so proud she was his wife. He was a great father to his sons, Kyle and Craig, and was actively involved in their lives. He loved his daughters-in-law, Annette and Tiffany, just as much as if they were his own daughters. The love this man had for his grandchildren, Kalyn, Kade, Kendyl, Ryder and Rowan was apparent the minute you were around him and in every picture! You couldn’t miss that smile. Don treated Karen’s family (all of us) with kindness, love, and respect. He was loyal to his friends and would give them the shirt off his back if needed. This man preached his funeral long before Jan 5. We all need to strive to be more like Don.

  34. I see Don in the choir singing every song! He knew every song, no words in front of him! He wore a halo here on earth, now he has wings! God bless you all.

We are shocked and saddened to hear about Don. Many thoughts and prayers for this fine family.

  36. Don was one of the finest men I ever have had the pleasure of knowing. He love his God and shared that love with everyone he met. He was a quiet man so when he gave his opinion I listened. I loved him and love Karen and their family.

  37. I am saddened by Don’s passing. I haven’t seen him in many years, but have many fond memories of him when I was a kid. I am praying for the family.
