Vernon “Nick” Nichols, Chief Petty Officer

Vernon Barry Nichols, 90, of Canon, GA, passed away Saturday morning, February 28, 2015, at the Northridge Medical Center, in Commerce, GA.

Born December 5, 1924, in Washington DC, he was the son of Vernon Robinson and Thelma Augusta Helwig Nichols and was the husband of the late Anna M Lewis Nichols. He was a Mason. He was retired from the U S Navy as a Chief Petty Officer.  A veteran of World War II, he served on aircraft carriers in the Pacific.  Later in his career he served upon the USS Intrepid, as the Chief Air Officer from 1963 to 1964.

Military Honors will be held later in Brigantine, New Jersey.
