  2. I was saddened to hear of Lamar’s passing. I offer my prayers and condolences to his family.
I served with him at Ponce Inlet circa 1975 – 1978. I apologize for the tardiness in this but I only recently learned of his death after another shipmate called my attention to the entry in the latest issue of the CHIEF magazine. Lamar Dean was an interesting man to work with at Ponce and I felt privileged to serve with him.

    In Sympathy,
    Bob (Chief Nik) Nahikian

I’m so sorry to hear Lamar had passed. I served with him at USCG Sta. Ponce De Leon Inlet from 1973-1975. I asked for his advice often especially how to be a good Petty Officer 1st class. I always enjoyed visiting him at his home.
