Mark Akin, 41, of the Red Hill Community, passed away Sunday morning, April 12, 2015.

Born May 5, 1973 in Toccoa, GA, he was the son of James M. “Jim” and Deborah Garland Akin. He was a graduate of the Franklin County High School and attended Emanuel College. He was a poultry farmer.

Services will be 2pm Tuesday at the B. D. Ginn Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Leon Carson. Interment will be in the Allens United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mark was well known for his love of animals. The family respectively asked that anyone wishing to make memorials in his memory please do so to the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter, 870 Bear Creek Road, Lavonia, Georgia, 30553.

    He was like a brother to me. Mark taught me how to drive a 5 speed in his blue Toyota truck, Lord have mercy I grinded the gears! We had such a fun time! I will cherish my times with Markman for ever. He now is with his animals that he loved so much. I will see you again Mark, I love you!

  3. I am so sad to hear about Mark. We rode the bus together through school, then i’d see him in town on occasion. He was always so nice to me and smiling every time I saw him. I will be praying for your family to be comforted.

    Jim and Deborah, I am so sorry about Mark. I remember when he used to hang around with my brothers Kevin and Klint Segars when they were in school.My prayers are with you both.
