Sara Lee “Susie” Owens Sumner, 87, of Carnesville, passed away Friday morning, May 22, 2105, at the Habersham County Medical Center, Demorest, GA.

Born November 21, 1927, in Carnesville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Adgar Howard and Ana Payne Owens. She was the widow of the late Arthur Thomas “Ott” Sumner, and was the sister of the late Harold Greene Owens and Troy Hilliard Owens. She was a 1944 graduate of Franklin County High School. She received an associate degree in business from the University of Georgia, and was an insurance agent with Stockton, Whatley, Davin, and Company for 35 years. She was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Anne Hall of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Elizabeth Lynne Loggins, of Mt. Airy, and; five grandchildren, Tommy White, Morgan Brook Ervin, Ryan Ervin, Tammy Wingate, and Tanya Daubs, multiple great-grandchildren. Brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jean Owens, Carnesville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Alberta Santmyres, Carnesville, and Van and Lee Williams, Carnesville.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 2pm at the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Mike Franklin.

Flowers are welcome but those wishing to make memorials please do so to Habersham Home, 541 Historic Hwy 441, Demorest, GA 30523, or to a charity of one’s choice.
