Cecil Johnson, 91, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away Thursday morning, June 11, 2015, at the Embracing Hospice in Snellville, GA.

Born June 5, 1924, in Jackson County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Freeman and Louella Emmett Johnson. He was the husband of the late Mary Oakley Johnson, and father of the late Debra Johnson and Jan Satterfield. He was the brother to the late Chester Beard, Ralph Johnson, Dean Johnson, Freeman Johnson Jr., William Johnson, Gaynell Hurley and Margaret Johnson. He and his wife Mary were married April 2, 1955 in Carnesville. He was a retired contractor and farmer. He was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Elaine Johnson, Lawrenceville, and Cecelia Hurr of Winder, and four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister Dorothy Haynie, Gainesville, and brothers, Ray Johnson, Jefferson and Horace Johnson, Hoschton, GA.

Service will be Saturday at 2pm at B D Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, with Bennie Ivey. Interment will be in the Franklin Memorial Gardens North.

The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Friday evening at the funeral home. They will also receive friends Saturday from 1pm until the funeral hour.

  1. I remember Cecil from the late 1970’s and he was a very fine man. He had one of the strongest work ethics I had ever known. He loved his family and he loved God. He always asked me about my time in the Air Force when we ran in to one another. Cecil you will always be in my memories. I am a better man for having spent time with you.
