Mildred Royston

Mildred Macomson Royston, age 87, of Lavonia, Ga passed away October 7, 2015 at the Hart Care Center.

Born August 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Rev. S.E. and Mary Ella Atkinson Macomson. She was the wife of the late Sheriff W.C. “Cliff” Royston. She was the sister of the late S.E. Macomson, Jr., Blanch Adams, Pauline Toney, Ed Macomson, D.W. Macomson, Mattie Cochran, Nazareth Dickerson, Harlie Kelley, Rachel McCall, Robert Macomson, and George Macomson. She had retired from Coats & Clark. After the passing of her husband, she became the interim sheriff to fulfill his duties until the end of his elected term. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, a choir member, and a member of the WMU.

She is survived by one son, David Royston, Carnesville, Ga; one granddaughter & grandson-in-law, Donna & Brian Segars; and one great-grandson: David Douglas Segars.

Services will be held 2pm Saturday afternoon, at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Todd West. Burial will follow in the Franklin Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 2 until 4pm and Friday evening from 6 until 8pm at the funeral home. Flowers are welcomed, but those wishing to make memorials, please do so to the Liberty Baptist Church Youth Fund.

    I wanted to tell you that Mildred was a great friend, a wonderful example of how to live a good life.
    She has always been an influence in my life since I was a child.

    What a day to celebrate, she is in heaven with Clifford and all family members!

    Mildred was a long time friend and neighbor while we were growing up.
    I thought the world of all her family
    She will surely be missed.
