Truel Moore Braswell, 78, of Carnesville, passed away at his home, Wednesday evening, October 21, 2015, after an extended illness.
Born May 19, 1937, in Buford, GA, he was the son of the late Edgar andVerlie Mae Moore Braswell. He was the father of the late Keith Braswell, and brother of the late Larry Braswell. Truel graduated from Sugar Hill High School in 1955. He attended Lee College and sang with Roosevelt Miller’s quartet and traveled to various camp meetings and churches in Tennessee, Georgia, and many other states. He met his wife, Joyce, of 58 years at Lee College as he was on one of his many tours of singings. Truel, Carrie, and Pastor Lewis Stover also sang on television once a week for a period of time. Truel, Carrie, and Graham Greeson had a weekly radio program, too. He was the choir director for the Adult and Teen choirs at Buford Church of God for many years, and also directed a Teen choir to win a state championship and also took them to St. Louis that year. He had served as the choir director for Lavonia Church of God, Carnesville, Church of God, Mt. Zion Methodist Church, and New Bethel Baptist Church. He managed the Joyful Noise Supper Club in Suwanee for several years. He was a great Sunday School teacher at Buford Church of God. He was employed with Standard Oil & Specialty Construction in the early years of his working career. He worked for Ginn Funeral Home for more than twenty-five years where he helped with funerals, singing, and playing piano and organ for many families throughout the years. He was the owner and operator of Village Florist & Gift Shoppe in Carnesville and Danielsville. He worked for the Franklin County Judicial Courts as a bailiff for several courts. He was a very friendly, pleasant, and caring person who had a heart of gold. He was like his Daddy…he never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife Joyce Shoemaker Braswell; son Tony Braswell, Buford; grandchildren, Blake Braswell, Ryan Braswell, Miranda & Tim Cornwell, Bryce Braswell, and Tyler Braswell; two great-grandchildren Micaela and Talmage Cornwell; two sisters and brother-in-law, Evelyn Braswell Jauch, Flowery Branch and Carrie (Imre) Braswell Szell, Decatur; sister-in-law, Sandy Braswell, Wylie Texas; step-mother, Lois Anglin Braswell; several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be Saturday at 3pm at the Buford Church of God with Rev. Joey Grizzle. Interment will be at the Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford.
The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville. The family is at the home. They will receive friends Friday evening from 5 until 8 at the funeral home. The will receive friends from 11am until 3pm Saturday at the Buford Church of God.

    I am so sorry to hear of Truel’s passing. He would always have me in stitches laughing when he lead our choir. He will be truly missed.
