Jerry M. Pocus, of Carnesville, Georgia, went to be with his Lord on October 16, 2015 after an extended fight with cancer.
Mr. Pocus was born in Palmer, Tennessee, December 11, 1938. He attended Grundy County High School and upon graduation, immediately joined the United States Air Force. He spent over 21 years serving his country. After retiring from the Air Force, Jerry was an nuclear engineer for the power industry, which took Jerry to many different places. Jerry saw and did more in his lifetime than most of us can imagine. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Palmer, Tennessee.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, George Pocus & Millie Henry Barker McCullough; two sisters: Yvonne Wachob and Anna Reece Meadows.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Joan Wilson Pocus, of Carnesville, GA; Two daughters: Sherrie Pocus Clarke and Jerri Anne Pocus Cooper, both of Florida; Two sisters: Mary Emaline Pocus London and Donna McCullough Dixon, both of Tennessee; Ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 11 am, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Ginn Funeral Home Chapel. Military Honors will be observed following the memorial services.
