William Marshall Atkinson, 85, of Carnesville, passed away Monday afternoon, February 8, 2016, at the St. Mary’s hospital in Athens Georgia.

Born March 5, 1931, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Noah and Nancy Pearl Cash Atkinson. He was the brother of the late Marvin Atkinson. He was with the Georgia Department of Transportation for 37 years. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a 50 year member of the Carnesville Masonic Lodge #186 F+AM. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.

He was survived by numerous cousins.

Services will be Thursday afternoon at 2pm at the B D Ginn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Todd West. Interment will be in the Liberty Baptist Church.

The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome but those wishing to make memorials please do so to the Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund, 6077 GA Hwy 145, Carnesville, GA 30521.

  3. Marshal has been a good friend for many years. We grew up attending Liberty church.
    Marshal came from a very good family, and he surely will be missed.
