Louise Garrison

Otha Louise Gillespie Garrison, 90, of the Plainview community, passed away February 24, 2016 at the Hill Haven Nursing Home.

Born June 8, 1925, in Carnesville, GA, she was the daughter of Erastus Felton and Otha Caroline Hooper Gillespie. She was the widow of the late John Howard Garrison, and the sister of the late Donald Gillespie and Hoyt Gillespie. She was a homemaker, a seamstress, and farmed with her husband Howard. She was an avid reader and active in the Women’s Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church, and was always actively involved in all the programs of the church.

Surivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Barbara Garrison, of Winder; daughter, Linda Payne, Carnesville; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday afternoon at 2pm at the Indian Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Jones and Rev. Nate Bunner. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home and would be placed in the church at 1:30 Friday afternoon. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome but those wishing to make memorials please do so to the Indian Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 11091 Old Federal Road, Carnesville, GA 30521.

    Linda, Ronald and I are so sorry for your loss. Our prayers go to and the family. Your mother was a true lady and a joy to know, she’ll be missed by all that knew her.

  3. I am so sorry for your lost. I have fond memories of the Garrison family when we live in Franklin County. I remember your mom always making dresses for my mother and grandmother. She was a great lady and will be missed.

    I have fond memories growing up in the Plainview Community with the Garrisons.Howard and Louise were great friends with the McConnells. Linda, Doug and family I am so sorry for your loss. Keeping all of you in my prayers.
