Mary Doris Bond, 91, of Commerce, passed away Wednesday morning at the Hill Haven Nursing Center at the Northridge Medical Center, in Commerce.

Born February 17, 1928 in Carnesville, she was the daughter of the late Jimmie Rufus “Doc” and Annie Mozelle Ayers Kennedy. She was the widow of the late John Russell Bond. She was the brother of the late John Kennedy and David Kennedy, and cousin of the late Lamar Thomason, raised with the family.  She and her husband Russell were married September 1, 1946 and lived in Alabama for 57 years.  She was retired from Neptune Industries and was a seamstress. She attended the Elam Baptist Church in Alabama, and was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her brother, James Kennedy, Carnesville; five sisters and brother-in-law, Geneva Alexander, Dorothy Layton, and Virginia Kennedy of Commerce, Juanita Thompson, Lavonia, and Lucy Ruth and Lawrence Saylors of Bowersville, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday afternoon at 4pm at the B D Ginn Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Byron Kennedy.  Interment will be in the Indian Creek Baptist Church.

The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family is at the home of her sister Dorothy Layton.  They will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Friday evening a the funeral home. Condolences may be left at ginnfuenralhome.com.
