Mary Thurmond Bentley, of Red Hill, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 10, 2020, at the home of her daughter, Paula Ledford.

Born April 23, 1934, in  Carnesville, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Cyrus Hubert and Ella Mae Carlin Thurmond.  She was the widow of William Paul Bentley. She was the grandmother of the late Michael Neal Ledford and David Hunt, and great-grandmother of Amanda Abbs.  She was the sister of the late Bertie Mae Thomas, Ruvelle Segars, Grady Thurmond, and Kendall Thurmond. She was a seamstress for Georgia Sportswear.  She also cooked for Franklin County High School, Fuel City, and Hasty Mart.  She was a member of the Broad River Baptist Church.

She is survived three sons and daughters-in-law; William Paul, Jr. and Iris Bentley, Jefferson, GA, Wayne and Allison Bentley, Toccoa, GA, and Dennis and Diane Bentley, Toccoa, GA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jenene and Sammy Coker, Toccoa, GA

Buena and Larry Smith, Carnesville, GA, Paula and Ricky Ledford, Carnesville, GA

Fourteen Grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; sister Rosetta Bennett, Augusta; two brothers, Junior Thurmond, Carnesville, and Joe & Brenda Thurmond, Carnesville; and several nieces and nephews

Services will be Saturday at 2pm at the Broad River Baptist Church with Rev Brandon Crunkleton.  Pallbearers will be Josh Bentley, Austin Bentley, Andy Bentley, Brandon Ledford, Landon Bentley, and Cody Smith. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family is at the home of Ricky and Paula Ledford. They will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm at the Broad River Baptist Church prior to the service.
