Roy Lee Brookshire, 82, of Carnesville, passed away Wednesday morning, August 7, 2019 at the Veranda of Carnesville.
He was born September 5, 1936, in Ellijay Georgia. He was the son of the late Luther and Vinnie Stamey Brookshire and the brother of the late Ruby Boatwright, Roscoe Brookshire, and Jimmy Brookshire. He served in the National Guard and was retired from General Motors. He was a past member of the Currahee Camping Club, and Franklin County Democratic Party. He was a member of the Franklin County
Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Autry Brookshire; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shelly B. and Rodney Casper, Waxhaw, NC, Cindi B. and Chris Baxter, Winder, and Lindi B and Scott Hamlin, Fitzgerald, GA; six grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy Payne, Marietta, GA, and Polly Adams, Stone Mountain, GA.
Services will be Saturday afternoon at 2pm at the B D Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home with Roy Neal. Interment will be at Stephens Memorial Gardens, Toccoa, GA.
The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family is at the home. They will receive friends from 12 noon until 2pm Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601. Condolences may be sent to ginnfuneralhome.com.
