Sarah Herring Jernigan, 86, of the Fairview Community, passed away Wednesday evening, August 2, 2017.

Born June 22, 1931, in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Howard and Nettie Lou Woods Herring. She was predeceased by her first husband, Clarence Whiting, brother, Harold Hugh, Calvin, Julian, and James Herring, and sister Nathel Alewine. She was a retired from Lavonia Manufacturing and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband Richard Jernigan; children, Raymond and Paulette Whiting, Kathy and Bryan Ansley, Wayne and Vivian Whiting, and Shannon and Rick Moss; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Herring, Howard “Red” Herring, Herman Herring, and Billy Herring.

Her wishes were to have a private graveside for close family. The family will gather Saturday at 3pm at Franklin Memorial Gardens North with Rev. Bruce Moore and Rev. Joe Renfro officiating. Her grandchildren and brothers will serve as pallbearers.

The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville. The families are at their perspective homes. They will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Friday evening at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at ginnfuneralhome.com.
