Blanton William Payne, 74, of Carnesville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, Athens, Georgia.
Born May 17, 1943 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Julius William Payne and Mary Floy Parham Payne. He received his education at Red Hill Elementary School and Franklin County High School and retired from the Georgia Power Company in June of 1998 with 35 years of active service. A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict he was a member of the U S Army Signal Corps. He was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church, Carnesville, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Wylette Payne Moody and his twin sister, Brenda Ann Payne Nicholson. Blanton loved his grandchildren, his little dog Sadie, cooking baby back ribs and working on old cars.
Family members include his wife of 52 years, Linda Banks Payne; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Blanton Heath Payne, Carnesville; and Shannon William and Kristi Mize Payne, Panama City Beach, Florida; Grandchildren: Richard Myles Payne, Kennesaw, Georgia; Tyler Mize Chastain, Anderson, South Carolina; and Sophie Ella Payne and Sullivan Oliver Payne, Panama City Beach, Florida. Sisters, Betty P. LeCroy, Carnesville, Ga, and Carolyn Payne McCall, Carnesville, Ga.
Services will be held at 4 pm Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Ginn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Philip Blinson officiating. His wish was to be cremated, and burial of his ashes will be held at a later date at Cross Roads Baptist Church cemetery next to his twin sister.
