David Jameson

David Harold Jameson, age 74, of Peachtree Corners, Ga., passed away on November 9, 2024 in Cumming after an extended illness. 

David was born in Clarkesville, Ga., to Harold and Helen Jameson. He was a Class of 72 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology. He had a long career in the federal government having spent time working at the Pentagon before retiring from U.S. General Services Administration as Deputy Assistant Regional Administrator in Atlanta. He also worked as volunteer security coordinator for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. David was an accomplished musician with a love of jazz which he passed on to his children. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed being on the water with family and friends at lakes Burton and Oconee and in Key West. He was a voracious reader who believed in the importance of public libraries and took pride in doing crossword puzzles and brain teasers. He was a lifelong Georgia Tech fan and Georgia Tech Athletic Association member who supported the Alexander-Tharpe Fund. He also loved the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons. 

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; brother Don Jameson and nephew Jacob Jameson. 

David is survived by his children, son Samuel and Michelle Jameson of Mount Airy, Ga.; daughter Daniela Jameson and Sam McWhorter of San Francisco, Ca.; nieces Buffy Jameson of Anderson, SC.; Ginny Jameson and Scott Baumgartner and great nephew and niece Alex and Anna Baumgartner of Charlotte, NC and sister-in-law Deborah Jameson of Anderson, SC., as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

A celebration of life will be held by family and friends at Ginn funeral home in Carnesville on Saturday December 7th from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in David’s memory.
