Doris Virginia McClain, 92, of the Red Hill Community, passed away Thursday night, January 25, 2024, at her home.
Born June 19, 1931, in the Bold Spring Community, she was the daughter of the late Dallas and Addie Presley Morgan. She was the widow of the late Alton Pruitt McClain. She was the sister of the late Hutcherson Morgan, Thomas Morgan, Allen Morgan, James Morgan, Almeria Grubbs, and Juanita Davis. She was a poultry farmer and had worked at Vermont America. She was a full time wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great, great grandmother. She loved spending time with children and grandchildren, and having family get-togethers. She loved watching basketball and baseball games, and played basketball during her high school years. She later coached a year of basketball for the Red Hill elementary school. She loved cooking and working with her flowers. She was a member of Zidon Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughters Linda (Jerry) Cress, of Carnesville, and Virginia (Gary) Gibson, Lavonia, Ga; and sons Steve Sosby, Martin, and Clint McClain Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy(Susan) Cress, Sherry (Randall) Whitlock, Keith(Pat) Gibson, John (Jeria) Gibson, Shannon (Lynnette) Sosby, Allen (Chasity) Sosby, and Casey McClain; fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Barbara Maddox, Royston.
Visitation services will be held at Ginn Funeral Home on Saturday, January 27th from 6:00pm till 8:00pm. The funeral services will be held at Zidon Baptist Church on Sunday January 28th at 2:00pm. Interment services will be held at Zidon Baptist Church Cemetery. The families are at their individual homes.
