James Payne

Lieutenant James Vick Payne, age 74, passed away on July 30, 2024 at his home in Carnesville, GA.

James was born in Chattanooga, TN on January 12, 1950 to the late William & Arnette Payne. James faithfully served his country from 1969 to 1973 in the United States Navy as a boiler technician during the Vietnam War. After the war James continued his life of public service as a firefighter for Dekalb County Fire. James retired from DeKalb County fire with the rank of Lieutenant after 25 years of faithful service.

James is preceded in death by his parents William & Arnette Payne, his son Justin Payne and Brother Asa Payne.

James is survived by his loving wife Winnette Payne of Carnesville, Son Michael "Cameron" Payne of Carnesville, Sister Glenda Smith of Sparta, Ga, and Brother William Payne & Cathy Miller of Lawrenceville GA.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
