Jimmy Ray Callahan, 82, of Carnesville, passed way Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at the Piedmont Athens Medical Center, Athens, GA.
Born January 1, 1937, in Belton, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Vincent O. and Nellie Poore Callahan. He was a graduate of Belton High School and Athens Tech. He was an electronics technician with Westinghouse/ABB of Athens. He served in the National Guard and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Marie “Judy” Bryan Callahan; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Elizabeth Callahan, Randy and Misty Callahan, and Sammy and Angie Callahan, all of Carnesville; ten grandchildren, Kristen, Russell, Hannah, Kinsey, Jace, Christopher, Nicole, Mikaella, Kyle, and Brittany; three great-grandchildren, Luke, Kaelynn, Ethan Ray, Reid, McKinzie, and Maelynn; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe Callaham, Belton, Roger and Glenda Callaham, Belton, and Donnie Callaham of Anderson; two sisters and brother-in-law, Faye Watts, Anderson, and Vickie and Mike Lewis, Belton.
Services will be 3:30pm Saturday afternoon at the Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Cole and Rev. David Souderes. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville. The family is at the home. They will receive friends at the church from 2pm until 3:30pm prior to the service. Flowers are welcome but those wishing to make memorials please do so to the Franklin County Gideons, P O Box 297, Franklin Springs GA30639
