Jocile Thurmond McFarlin, of the Red Hill Community, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 13, 2021, at her home.

Born February 21, 1938, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Opal Kellar Thurmond. She was the widow of the late Joel Dewitt McFarlin, and sister-in-law of the late Rev. Truitt Brawner and Mike Elrod.  She had been employed at Harpers, Coats and Clark, and Toccoa Casket Company. She was a member of Hunters Creek Baptist Church and had played piano at Broad River Baptist Church and at Hunters Creek for many years.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kathy McFarlin; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Bruce Jordan, Canon; six grandchildren, Christy Burgess, Stephen McFarlin, Katie McFarlin South, Justin Collins, Jordan Collins, and Jannah Canup; ten great-grandchildren, Isabella Burgess, Caralina Burgess, Peyton McFarlin, Gavon McFarlin, Noah Collins, McKenzie Collins, Ryan Collins, Lainah Collins, Wesley Canup, and Emma Jocile McFarlin; sisters, Mary Ruth Brawner Toccoa, Pauline McFarlin, Toccoa, Sandra Elrod, Red Hill, and Shirley Pritchett Red Hill.

Services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2pm at the Hunters Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Huff, Rev. Vernon Dorminy, and Rev. Don Balock. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family is at the home and will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome but those wishing to make memorials to Jocile, please do so Hunters Creek Baptist Church, 1370 Hunter’s Creek Road, Toccoa, GA 30577.
