Joel McFarlin, of the Red Hill Community passed away Sunday evening, September 9, 2018, at his home.
Born September 7, 1932, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Noel Wendell and Minnie Lee LeCroy McFarlin. He was a retired poultry farmer and was a member of the Red Hill Masonic Lodge. He was a member and past deacon of Hunter’s Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jocile Thurmond McFarlin; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kathy McFarlin; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Bruce Jordan, Canon; six grandchildren, Christy Burgess, Stephen McFarlin, Katie McFarlin South, Justin Collins, Jordan Collins, and Jannah Canup; ten great-grandchildren, Isabella Burgess, Caralina Burgess, Peyton McFarlin, Gavon McFarlin, Noah Collins, McKenzie Collins, Ryan Collins, Lainah Collins, Wesley Canup, and Emma Jocile McFarlin; one sister, Glenda McFarlin Slaton, Toccoa; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Denman and Ann McFarlin, Toccoa, Wendell “Pete” and Pauline McFarlin,Toccoa, and Travis and Linda McFarlin, of Martin, GA
Services will be 3pm Wednesday afternoon at the Hunter’s Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Huff and Rev. Vernon Dorminy. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family is at the home. They will receive friends from 6 until 8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome but those wishing to make memorials please do so to the Hunter’s Creek Baptist Church, 1370 Hunter’s Creek Road, Toccoa, GA, or to the St Jude’s Children Hospital.
