Charles Kenneth Akin, 68, of Red Hill community, passed away, Thursday morning, November 19, 2015, at his residence.
Born July 29, 1947, in Royston, GA, he was the son of Nell Brown Akin and the late Merrell C. Akin. An infant twin brother Keith also predeceased him. He was a 1965 graduate of Franklin County High School and received a BBA from the University of Georgia. He was a cattle farmer and a correctional officer at the Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute. He was a member of The Living Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Sherlene Elliott Akin; son, Chad Akin, Lavonia, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Kellie Akin Spagnoli and husband Jeremy, Martin, GA; mother, Nell Akin, Martin; grandson, Will Akin; and sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Wayne Caudell.
Services will be 4pm Saturday afternoon at the B D Ginn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Poole and Minister David Wakefield. Interment and committal with Rev. Walton McNeal will follow in the Allens United Methodist Church Cemetery.
