Leland Little Swindell, 81, of Carnesville, passed away Thursday evening, July 30, 2020, at the Grandview Nursing Home, in Athens, Georgia.
Born May 19, 1939, in Richmond Georgia, he was the son of the late Harry and Eleanor Little Swindell. He was the brother of the late Bobby Swindell, and Jerry Swindell. He served in the U S Army 37
th
Armor Division in Crailsheim, Germany. He and his wife Pat were married May 20, 1962 at Hollywood Baptist Church. He owned and operated Carnesville Auto Parts for years. Leland was a pilot, raised birds, a truck driver, a scuba diver and a Franklin County EMT.
Survivors include his wife Patricia Elrod “Pat” Swindell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Dwayne Ansley, of Jefferson, and Keely and Jeff Grizzle, Royston; four grandchildren Emily & Javier, Amy, Madeline and Breanna; sister, Eleanor Tarr; three brothers, Charles Swindell, David Swindell, and Richard Swindell.
Services were Sunday afternoon, August 2, 2020 at 3pm at B D Ginn Memorial Chapel with Erik Mason. Interment with Military Honors was at Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
