Lucy Ruth Sosby Payne, 90, of the Red Hill Community, passed away Friday morning, October 5, 2018, at the Brown Health and Rehab Center in Royston, GA.
Born December 19, 1927, in Carnesville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Albert Parker and Ethel Crump Sosby. She was the widow of the late John Howard Payne, and the sister of the late Bertie Mae McFarlin, Tom Sosby, and Joe Sosby. She was a seamstress with Wright’s Manufacturing in Toccoa, for 34 years. She was a member of the Tom’s Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Melvin and Evelyn Payne Stovall; grandchildren, Melanie Stovall Fortenberry, Michael Stovall, Matthew Stovall, and Meredith Stovall Dotson; great-grandchildren, Julie, Kyleigh, Liana, Landon, Leighton, Eli, Corbin, Liam, Kason, Jackson,John, and Colten; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie Faye and Jerry Bennett, Toccoa, and George Sosby Sr, Red Hill.
Family graveside services will be Tuesday morning at 11am at the Tom’s Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
The body is at Ginn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at ginnfuneralhome.com.
