Rachel Wood Jordan, 85, of Carnesville, wife of Rev. Grady Jordan, passed away September 11, 2023, at the Sacred Heart Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

 

Born May 22, 1938, in Maysville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Tom Wood and the late Nettie (C. L.) Hanley.  On August 10, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles Grady Jordan. As a pastor’s wife she shared a loving heart supporting his ministry.  She worked as para-pro for 12 years at Carnesville Elementary. Along with spending her time with Grady her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was loved and adored by all of them, but none greater than her loving husband, Grady. She and Grady were members of New Bethel Baptist Church.

 

Rachel is survived by her loving husband Grady Jordan and their children Dawn (Barry) Crunkleton and Dana (Jud) Scott, and her late infant daughter Graylan Yvette Jordan . She was a proud grandmother to Kelly John & Chad Crunkleton, Jordan Scott & Ethan, Payton & Dylan McFarlin, Graylan Crunkleton & Riley,  Brandon & Jessica Crunkleton, Chris Crunkleton, Blake Crunkleton &  Miranda; Her  eleven great-grandchildren are Jasmine, Jaden, Allie, Bentlee, Bella, Hannah, Emma-John, Blane, Carter, Alena, and Charlotte;  She is also survived by her brother Richard (Kelly) Hanley and sister Karen Reese and the late Tony Reese.

 

In times of mourning, it is important to remember and honor the beautiful moments shared with those who have departed. Rachel's life was a testament to compassion, love, and dedication. May her memory serve as a guiding light in our lives as we carry forward her legacy of kindness and empathy. She will always be remember by her family for great love she had for all of them. Grady, her children, grandchildren, and great children will strive to honor Rachel by carrying her love and compassion not only to each other but to all of those around them every day.

 

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6pm until 8 pm at Ginn Funeral Home in Carnesville Georgia. Services will be 11am Thursday morning at the B D Ginn Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Tommy Childress. Entombment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dylan McFarlin, Ethan Alewine, Graylan Crunkleton, Chad Crunkleton, Brandon Crunkleton, Blake Crunkleton, Bentlee Crunkleton, and Blane Crunkleton, Barry Crunkleton, and Jud Scott.

Rachel is at the Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville. The family is at the home of her daughter, Dawn and Barry Crunkleton, 167 Henry Williams Road, Toccoa, GA.    Condolences may be left for the family at ginnfuneralhome.com.
