Sylvia Collins

Sylvia Virginia Collins, 86, of the Red Hill Community passed away Wednesday morning October 23, 2024, at the Veranda in Carnesville, GA - where she was loved and cared for by their wonderful staff.

Born June 14, 1938 in Toccoa, GA, daughter of the late Bradford and Floy South. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Collins, and brother Jerry South. She served the citizens of Franklin County for 35 years as a public health nurse. She continued to care for members of her community up until her death. She was a faithful member of Allens United Methodist, where she was the pianist for decades. 

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne & Rusty Burns of Carnseville, GA, Laura & Reggie Starrett of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Betsy & husband Michael Barrett of Buford, GA, Austin & wife Nykki Starrett of Jacksonville, FL, Cameron Burns of Carnesville, GA, and Brock Starrett of Carnesville, GA; great-grandchildren Zealand and Ezmond Starrett, and Michael and Mila Barrett. Sister-in-law Ann South of Martin, GA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Services will be Friday October 25th at 3pm at Allens United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Garner. Followed by graveside entombment at Franklin Memorial Gardens, North.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30pm Friday afternoon at the Allens Family Life Center, prior to the service. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made in her honor at Northeast Georgia Bank. 

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and were blessed to be loved by her. The family would like to thank you all for the continued prayers, but are at peace knowing she is finally reunited with her husband Robert Collins, who she loved and missed dearly.
